Anglicare is urging keen Penrith shoppers to get out to their local charity store during National Op Shop Week and nab a great bargain. Not only will they look fabulous, but they will be helping Anglicare help others.
National Op Shop Week, 21 – 27 August, seeks to help charities raise more funds for their work in the community by boosting clothing stocks and sales.
“All of our profits from our stores go back to Anglicare to help run community programs throughout Sydney and the Illawarra. So if you’ve got an eye for a great deal and want to give something back to your local community, shopping at a charity store is a great way to do both,” says Stephen Kuo, Anglicare Shops Manager.
“With new spring stock in store, it is the perfect time to pop into one of our stores to see what treasures you can find for the coming season, as well as supporting many in the community who are struggling.”
It’s time to enjoy the hunt for that piece that will help you stand out from the crowd. Remember to wear comfortable shoes as Op Shopping may take some time and patience.
If you’re overwhelmed by the sheer volume of clothes and don’t know where to start, most Op Shops organise their clothes in colour, so keep an eye out for that special hue that best suits you.
It’s also a perfect time to donate your clothes. That dress that you’re bored with can be someone’s favourite find. Just make sure that what you are donating is good quality and something that you’d be happy for someone else to wear.
According to Tracy Rintoul, Anglicare Penrith Shop Manager, there are plenty of bargains for sale every week.
“You get lots of bargains – brand names like Country Road, Cue, Nike, Nautica, Adidas and more – all at low prices. Some still have the tags on them,” Tracy explains.
“Spend an hour looking right though the Op Shop to find the bargains. Take a friend for another opinion. You can get quality clothes at a fraction of the price.
“A tip for looking good on a budget is only purchase what you look great wearing. Buy basic items like plain shirts, jeans, things you can pair up with other accessories and clothes to make them seem new and different every time you wear them. Be creative by altering some pieces. It can be lots of fun!
“The biggest benefit of Op Shopping is you get to look amazing in great quality items at very reasonable price. That bargain purchase also goes to help another in need as well.
“During National Op Shop week, we will have a 3-2-1 sale where from Monday to Wednesday everything in store will sell for $3, Thursday to Friday all items will sell for $2 and finally everything will go for $1 on Saturday. So don’t miss out!”
